It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Waianae Elementary School for the 2017-18 school year. My name is Ray Pikelny and I am thrilled to begin the new school year at Waianae Elementary and look forward to meeting my new school family. I have heard many wonderful things about WES and know that this is a very unique place rich with tradition and the feeling of community. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school on the Leeward Coast.
I’d like to also take this time to share a little background about myself. I started my career as a teacher at Makaha Elementary School and transitioned into administration where I served as an assistant principal at James Campbell High School. My most recent assignment was as an assistant principal at Waianae High School. As I make my transition as the new principal as seamless as possible, I will continue my work as an educational leader where I am excited and eager to bring my skills to . My main objective is to support students, teachers, and parents to ensure student success and academic confidence that will benefit all students throughout their entire educational process.
It is important to me that all members of our community are involved and fosters a positive attitude towards education. I am eager to know more about the community and learn more about your hopes and dreams for our school. I believe that collaboration fosters ownership of a rich school culture for both children and adults. Supporting our kids to do well in school and apply what they learn to their personal lives is at the center of the work we do as a school family. I am honored to be selected to serve this community. I will be working diligently with the staff of Waianae to provide opportunities for learning and growth. Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself to me.
I look forward to meeting you and expanding my school family as a Waianae Elementary Seahorse!
